Following the major "Frozen Trail" update, ARC Raiders launched a highly anticipated limited-time PvE-only test. The hottest topic of discussion within the community is whether the game will split into two separate versions after the test: one featuring pure PvE cooperative gameplay, and the other retaining the classic PvPvE extraction mode.

Developer Embark Studios has stated that a split is a possibility but not yet a confirmed plan. The primary goal of this PvE test is to gather multi-dimensional data - covering matchmaking queues, the in-game economy, and player retention - to inform the game's future direction.

PvE Test Details:

The PvE test runs from October 13 to October 20, allowing players to toggle between modes directly via the matchmaking screen. In PvE-only matches, players cannot damage one another; instead, everyone can team up to battle ARC mechanical enemies, complete objectives, scavenge for supplies, and successfully extract.

To maintain balance, the value of loot obtained in PvE mode is lower than in the standard PvPvE mode, preserving the distinction in risk-versus-reward between the two playstyles. Official survey data indicates that 37% of players prefer cooperative gameplay without direct conflict, and over half of the respondents expressed a desire for a dedicated PvE option - a key factor driving the studio to launch this experiment.

Core Debate:

Many players confuse two distinct possibilities: simply adding a permanent PvE matchmaking toggle within the existing client (keeping the game as a single unified title) versus a complete split into two independent games, each with its own economy, maps, and progression systems.

Embark has not yet finalized a decision. If test data reveals significant differences in needs between the two player groups or shows that their economies interfere with one another, splitting ARC Raiders into two separate branches could become a reality. Conversely, if the two modes can coexist successfully, the most likely outcome is the retention of a simple matchmaking toggle, allowing player characters, inventories, and blueprint progress to remain shared across modes without requiring players to start over.

Whether you prefer the quiet grind of PvE missions or the high-stakes looting of PvPvE, collecting ARC Raiders blueprints is key to maximizing your loadout's potential in the long run. For many players, the primary goal in the new "Frozen Trail" map is hunting down blueprints to unlock the ability to craft powerful gear.

There is a clear difference in how resources are acquired between the two modes. PvPvE offers high risk and high reward; successful extraction yields valuable loot, but dying means losing everything you carried into the match. PvE mode is less stressful - ideal for learning the map and practicing combat against ARC mechanical units - though the loot value is generally lower.

Many players adopt a flexible approach, using PvE to steadily gather basic materials and practice tactics, while turning to PvPvE to chase rare loot. If you want to quickly gear up, many players choose to buy ARC Raiders items to instantly acquire the weapons, armor, and consumables needed to tackle the new map.

When exploring the new "Frozen Trail" areas, you need to keep items like medkits, shield chargers, and explosives on hand; a solid stockpile of ARC Raiders items can significantly boost your extraction success rate. Even if you focus on PvE, a well-optimized loadout helps minimize the risk of failure when facing tough ARC elite units.

Summary:

If the game modes are eventually split, the item economy and blueprint acquisition rules for each will likely be adjusted independently. For now, however, character stashes and blueprint progress remain shared, so players can safely accumulate blueprints and stockpile supplies during the test phase. The safest strategy right now is to use the PvE test to familiarize yourself with the "Frozen Trail" map layout, collect as many blueprints as possible, and upgrade your Hideout workbench.

Ultimately, the PvE test following the "Frozen Trail" update is essentially a data experiment; the developers have not yet confirmed that the modes will definitely be separated. Whether ARC Raiders is ultimately split into two separate titles depends on the vast amount of data collected during this test - including matchmaking queue times, economic balance, and player feedback.
